“I launched Spark + Buzz two years ago to help businesses differentiate themselves in the marketplace through storytelling,” Founder Courtney Malengo said. “I’m incredibly grateful I am able to pursue what I love and that our third year is already underway, despite the pandemic and challenges of 2020.”
After 16 years’ leading marketing, branding and public relations strategies for several organizations, Malengo launched Spark + Buzz Communications in January of 2019 to pursue her professional passions and spend more time with her then-infant son.

Based in Gaithersburg, Md., Spark + Buzz provides integrated solutions through branding, marketing, and public relations services to its clients. While Spark + Buzz works with clients of all shapes and sizes, industry specializations include senior living, healthcare, non-profits, faith-based organizations, and real estate.

Malengo has been featured in countless publications, including Thrive Global, Entrepreneur, Authority Magazine and more. She holds a bachelor’s in English Writing from Eastern University in St. Davids, Pa., and a master’s in Communication and Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash. Malengo also earned her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) from the Public Relations Society of America and is a frequent speaker on all-things communication. Prior to launching Spark + Buzz, she spent a decade in senior living overseeing all marketing and communications for a regional, multi-site senior living provider.
